Should You Use an E-Portfolio?

The answer is YES!  Utilizing an e-portfolio allows the learner to showcase their work.   Artifacts are kept in a digital format and one is able to reflect back on their work as well.  Simply put . . . a portfolio is a digital tool that demonstrates meaningful connections.
E-portfolios allow you to create a platform to showcase your work to future employers.  Future employers can examine what you have done, the way you learned and your job capabilities. For instance, prior to the new principal appraisal system, we had our district’s principal appraisal system.    This system required us to present what’s called “The State of the Campus.” We had to showcase our work.  At first, I struggled with how to do this, until I came across an article on e-portfolios.  After reading the article, I created an e-portfolio to showcase various skills and experiences I had implemented on my campus.  As a result, my director was able to examine my job experiences and work in a more authentic way.  Additionally, as I created the e-portfolio, I was able to explore deeper learning about the various aspects of my job responsibilities.
